La Cochera
A Cochera is a carport. And, we have one at Etlingera Farms. It is a very convenient place to park our car and unload our groceries. It is connect to our Rancho. The Rancho has a covered walkway that leads to the Cabin. And, the Cabin has a covered walkway leading to the caretaker’s quarters.
There really isn’t a lot to say about our Cochera except that it is about large enough to fit one car. It is made out of wood with a zinc lamina roof. Most roofs in Costa Rica are made from this zinc lamina material. It is light, durable, and holds up well to the frequent tropical rains. The shade produced by our Cochera makes it particularly well suited for growing healthy, rhyzomatic flowering plants. Gardening opportunities are abundant in and around our Cochera and other shaded structures of Etlingera Farms. But, good gardeners are hard to find.
