El Bosque

Bosque is the Spanish word for Forest.  Etlingera Farms has both primary and secondary forests.  A primary forest just happens.  A tree grows, and uses the wind, or the birds, or other forest creatures as vectors to transport its seeds to other areas so that other trees can grow and spread seeds.  A Primary forest is a naturally occurring forest.  A secondary forest is one that has been planted.  A great deal of the terrain at Etlingera Farms has, at sometime in the past been deforested.

In 2009, with the support and assistance of a great number of governmental, commercial, and private enterprises, and, with the goal of sustainability in mind, a team of 20 members undertook the task of reforesting, and re-vitalizing the land.  By the time this job was completed, an excess of 20,000 young saplings had found a new home at Etlingera Farms.  By using the best, and most up-to-date scientific knowledge available, these trees were planted exactly 3 meters apart.

And, blah, blah, blah.  Now let's look at some pictures.  And, note that these pictures are not our forest but, they of forested lands belonging to University Earth who graciously provided us with tours and consultation.
