Las Flores

With its shaded, cloud covered sunshine, cool temperatures, rich volcanic soils, and frequent refreshing rains, Etlingera Farms is a flowering paradise.  And, while we may be slightly biased, we happen to think that some of the most beautiful flowers in the world are grown at Etlingera Farms.

Most of the flowers grown at Etlingera Farms are of the Rhizomatic variety.  A rhizome is actually a part of a network of roots.  While most rhizome plants can be grown from seeds, the quicker, and more scientific method of growing rhizome plants is by training the root buds to develop into new plants.

Some of the more popular rhizomes are banana plants, ginger roots, sugar cane, bamboo, and of course, the Etlinger eliator, a heliconia also known as torch ginger from which Etlingera Farms derived its name.
